Mandolin U. Srinivas, an acclaimed mandolin player of carnatic musical school, expired at at 9 a.m. at a private hospital in Chennai. His health was deteriorated, and liver transplantation was done recently. Srinivas, a native of Palakol from Andhra Pradesh, was born on February 28, 1969. He introduced western electric instrument to Carnatic Music through revolutionary approach, which was panned by traditional Carnatic versatile musicians. Entire musical fraternity expressed deep shock and sympathy for the sudden demise of mandoline genius. In the words of Balasubramanyam
