Mukkala Pulusu

MukkalapulusuIngredients:

A piece of pumpkin
2 brinjals/egg plant
4 okras
2 onions
A small piece of anapakaya
1 sweet potato

lemon size tamarind
salt for taste
pinch of turmaric powder
2 tbls.sugar/jaggery
1 tbls.fine rice powder

Popu
1 tbls.oil
2 red chillies
1 ts.mustard seeds
1/2 cumin
1/2 menthi
dash of hing

Process:

Remove the skin of the pumpkin and fibre inside. Cut equal size pieces (1″)Cut all vegetables in the same way.Remove the skin of the anapakaya and seeds also then cut into pieces. Remove the skin on sweet potato and cut into pieces. Cook all for 10-12 minutes. Once it is done add tamarind juice,salt and turmaric powder. Cook 2 more minutes. Add jaggery/sugar to it and let it boil 5 more minutes. Mix rice powder in 3 tbls.of cold water and pour into the soup.Let it boil 2 more minutes. Take it out. Put a ladle on a low flame, add 1 tbls.of oil and fry all the popu items and mix into the soup. Add some coriander leaves (optional)

Goes well with hot rice. Goes well with daal rice.
